Niemi gets third shutout in seven starts

Antti Niemi, a rookie goaltender from Finland who signed as a free agent in May of 2008, is off to a hot start this season with a 6-1-1 record and three shutouts in seven starts. He is currently playing as the backup for Cristobal Huet, but while he is playing this hot it is more likely that he will see more ice time.
Niemi made 18 saves to get his third shutout in seven starts this season as Chicago beat Tampa Bay 4-0 on Sunday night. The rookie netminder who has made eight appearances this season with three starts since November 7th. In that time he has allowed just one goal, stopped 80 shotsand and recorded two shutouts in those games. Antti also had a shutout in his first game this season against the Florida Panthers on October third.
